Police Blotters – May 2010

  • 12:56 a.m. — A caller from the reported a friend was talking to ghosts.
  • 9:05 a.m. — A woman said she thought there were people underneath her apartment and that children were killed there. She said she heard voices and was scared. Police made contact with the woman and determined there was no crime involved.
  • 8:11 p.m. — A man reported his wife was throwing books around and might be off her medications. She was having some type of manic episode and deputies were not able to reach an agreement regarding the placement of her 100-plus pairs of shoes. No crime was found to have occurred.
  • 12:29 p.m. — A caller reported a man had a noose hanging from his second story balcony.
  • 5:06 p.m. — A caller reported people were “shooting electricity through the ground again.” Police checked the area but did not find anything unusual.
  • 4:50 p.m. — A caller from a jewelry store reported a man walked out with a pendant. A subject matching the caller’s description was found by the church on the top of the street, where he was tearing up an elm tree.
  • 10:26 p.m. — A woman reported hearing a man outside her bedroom window moaning and cussing. He was arrested on unknown charges.
  • 12:54 p.m. — A caller reported a woman sitting on the ground twitching, talking to herself and hitting the air. She agreed to move on.
  • 12:30 p.m. — A caller reported ongoing poisoning.
  • 10:20 a.m. — A woman reported her mother threatened to burn down her residence, tried to steal her truck and ran over her foot, among other things. She said her mother wants her to go to rehab. She said she forgave her mother because she is a Christian, but is concerned because her mother has threatened to destroy her belongings.
  • 2:31 a.m. — A caller reported a man who seemed very drunk. He was not drunk, he was lost and angry.
  • 2:20 p.m. — A caller reported a man asked a woman to have coffee with him, and now she was sleeping on the counter.
  • 6:34 p.m. — A woman reported a man called twice, said he worked for the U.S. Census and wanted to know if she lived alone. She felt this might be someone who wanted to harm her. It was a legitimate Census worker.
  • 4:28 p.m. — A man reported a woman brandished a knife and asked him if he was ready to die.
  • 4:30 p.m. — A caller reported receiving a call from an elderly woman who sounded out of breath. They found the woman was fine but had been calling around looking for assistance to treat a rash.
  • 2:16 p.m. — A caller accidentally dialed 911 and a dispatcher could hear a person talking and hammering in the background. When the dispatcher called back, the cell phone owner said he “must have butt-dialed,” the emergency number by mistake.
  • 7:47 p.m. – A caller requested to know the time difference between the U.S. and South Africa. He was admonished.
  • 2:35 p.m. — A woman reported her ex posted an embarrassing photo of her on Facebook.
